Sutton Coldfield Cricket Club, (SCCC) established in 1847, is a family orientated club and is affiliated to the Warwickshire Cricket Board with full benefits. It was one of the first clubs to achieve an ECB Club Mark in 2003 and has been re-accredited since. The Club has an active Social Committee with a variety of functions and evening events throughout the year including the prestigious Cricket Awards evening. The club also welcomes volunteers who want to support or play cricket at the club.
SCCC runs Senior Teams on Saturdays playing in the Warwickshire Cricket League, a Senior Team on Sundays playing in the Warwickshire Sunday League and Junior Teams ranging from U9 to U17. There are also sessions for the U5-U9 on Sunday mornings when the club is open offering refreshments to parents and siblings.
At the moment the Club has no Ladies Team, but is actively seeking ladies who like to take part from the local community.
Coaching and Training
Coaching and training is a high priority for the club and SCCC currently has 2 Level 3 WCB coaches at the club who can also provide specialised one to one coaching if required. The Club wants to invest further in getting additional coaches through ECB sessions to enable the growth to continue, and move forward in developing the skills of its junior section but to also enhance senior players and the teams.
Nets & Winter Nets
There are excellent net facilities and a full Junior Coaching Programme that runs throughout the summer and, during winter, we continue the programme by using the indoor net facilities at the local Bishop Vesey School Grammar School.
Winter Nets Sessions
We hold yearly Winter Nets Sessions for both Junior and Senior Members. These are held at Bishop Vesey Grammar School Sports Hall from January for a period of 12 weeks. Application Forms are available from the November of the preceding year on our website.
Sutton Coldfield Cricket Club (SCCC) has a thriving Junior Section running sides from Under 9 through to Under 17, as well as an Under 19 Team in the T20 League (Group 2). In 2011 the Under 15 team were first to represent the WCB in the knockout stages of the U15 National Knockout.
A lot of resources to the development of its youth section has committed by SCCC, which currently has just under 100 young cricketers aged from 7 to 16 attending development and training sessions through both the summer and winter. The club encourages the use of facilities by local primary and secondary schools and are looking to form and establish links institutions of further and higher education.
Friday nights are the main junior training night (up to age U11) where there is a licensed bar for adults and a BBQ for juniors, parents and anyone wishing to use our facilities.
Sutton Coldfield Cricket Club was formed in 1847 by the Reverand Riland Bedford who wanted to see cricket being played in Rectory Park. Now, more than 160 years later, we still play cricket in what is now one of the most recognisable cricket grounds in the Midlands. The Club is quite unique in having both its squares at Rectory Park next to each other providing excellent facilities for its members. We run 5 Mens teams over Saturday and Sunday, Junior Teams for all ages.
